Updated notice of temporary lane closures on Faraday Avenue

As we progress with construction of the temporary diversion of Faraday Avenue, we wanted to provide you with an update on the contraflow system that was in place up until 19 July. Following a successful trial period, we will now extend the use of the contraflow system until November 2024. This will enable us to complete works that are required to construct the temporary realignment of Faraday Avenue, which will facilitate the building of HS2 structures in this location.

The contraflow system will be in place for 24 hours per day and will be reviewed on a regular basis. During this period all traffic will use the Westbound carriageway whilst both Eastbound lanes are closed.

We will close two lanes on the Eastbound carriageway and direct all traffic into a two-way system on the Westbound carriageway, as follows:

• 19 July until 8 November 2024 for 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.*

For the next stage of our works, we have installed a temporary contraflow system for a period of one week. This will be in place for 24 hours per day and will be reviewed, after which this may be in place for a longer period. During this period all traffic will use the Westbound carriageway whilst both Eastbound lanes are closed. This will be in place until 19 July and should this remain in place we will update you with a further communication.

As we progress with construction of the temporary diversion of Faraday Avenue, we wanted to provide you with an update on what further works are required to complete the next stages of this key activity, which will facilitate the building of HS2 structures in this location.

For the next stage of our works, we are proposing further daytime closures of two lanes which will be one lane on the Eastbound and one lane on the Westbound of Faraday Avenue immediately to the west of the Edison Road roundabout. This will be in place for a duration of approximately four weeks and will enable a ‘crossover’ to be formed in the location of the existing central reservation to facilitate safe working areas and implementation of traffic management systems for the next phase of works.

To complete these works safely we will close two lanes, one lane on both east bound and West bound on Faraday Avenue and the A446 southbound as follows:
• 24 June until 25 July 2024 between 7.30am to 1.30pm (Monday to Friday).
