What we are doing

We are continuing with our work to support the construction of railway bridges on land near the Central Line, around 90 metres south from the rear of properties on Wells House Road. This will take place from Saturday 6 December through to Friday 19 December, and then in the new year from Saturday 10 January to Monday 26 January.

As with the previous similar work in the autumn, residents can expect to experience minimal construction noise, within the limits allowed by agreement with the local authority.

We will be installing 14-metre sheets of steel into the ground. This process creates a strong wall and is known as sheet piling. While there will be no drilling or hammering, there may be some engine noise from our crane. We will be using a piling rig, a platform that drives a spiral drill into the ground. This may be a bit noisier. In one new year shift.

We will be doing this work at night due to restrictions about working near an operational railway. We cannot install multiple sheet piles at once so the works must run intermittently over consecutive nights. Site cabins will also be assembled in this area over the next few weeks in daytime working hours and we will be working on the Central Line fencing under the bridge. Noise mitigation will be used and we do not anticipate this will be disturbing.

Dates and time of works
• Saturday 6 December – Monday 8 December, between 11:00pm – 5:00am each day
• Saturday 13 December – Friday 19 December, between 11:00pm – 5:00am each day
• Saturday 10 January – Monday 12 January, between 11:00pm – 5:00am each day
• Tuesday 13 January – Sunday 18 January, between 11:00pm – 5:00am each day
• Sunday 25 January – Monday 26 January, between 00:00am – 5:00am continuous period

To help minimise disturbance to the local community, we will:
• Use quiet machinery – such as the pile press
• Carefully handle tools and equipment
• Be mindful of the placement and handling of materials
• Use sound barriers where possible to prevent sound carrying
• Control raised voices on site through thorough briefings of our team
