What we are doing
Overnight road closures on Victoria Road to install conveyor crossings
Works are continuing to construct the conveyor system between our sites in the Old Oak and Park Royal area to allow for the movement of excavated material between sites. The conveyor system will help reduce the construction traffic on the local roads while we build HS2.
We will be installing two enclosed conveyor crossings over Victoria Road between our Victoria Road Crossover Box and Flat Iron sites. These works will require the use of a 300-tonne mobile crane to lift the segments into position over the road.
To install the conveyor crossings safely, Victoria Road will be closed to vehicles overnight from 10pm on Friday 15 April to 6am on Saturday 16 April. There will be lighting in place to support the works – these will be directed away from residential properties. A map showing the location of the road closure and diversion route is included on the next page.
If the conveyor crossing cannot be installed on this weekend due to unforeseen circumstances such as weather, a contingency booking with the local authority has been scheduled for the following weekend (Saturday 23rd to Sunday 24th April) – the working times are the same (10pm to 6am). If this contingency is to be utilised, we will reschedule the works and inform you in advance.
Temporary Road changes during the installation
During these works a full road closure will be in place on Victoria Road between School Road and the Boden building. Access to Boden will be maintained during these works.
A vehicle and pedestrian diversion will be clearly signed. A map of the diversions is shown below.
During the works, we will lift the two conveyor crossings into place. Each lift will last up to one hour. For safety reasons during the lifting operations, there will be no pedestrian access on Victoria Road between School Road and the Boden building. We will also have traffic marshals in the area to assist pedestrians.
What to expect
During these works you may notice the following:
• The works will take place overnight
• Staff will be on site throughout the works
• We will be using a 300-tonne mobile crane during the works – you will be able to see the crane lifting the conveyor crossing into place
• Due to the works taking place during overnight working hours, we will have additional lighting in place. We will direct these away from residential properties as much as possible
• You may notice some noise during the installation of the conveyor crossing. We will do all we can to minimise this.
We apologise in advance for any disruption you experience during these works.
