What we are doing
BBV will be carrying out ground penetrating radar (GPR) surveys on the ‘loop’ section of Junction 7a of the M42 that links the northbound carriageway to the southbound carriageway of the M6.
GPR uses radar pulses to create a profile of what the ground looks like beneath the surface. GPR can be used in a variety of ground conditions, including rock, soil, pavements, and structures. The GPR can be pushed along by hand, attached to a buggy or – on a larger scale – can be attached to a van or tractor.
To carry out these works safely, we will close the slip road that connects the northbound carriage way of the M42 to the southbound carriageway of the M6 between 9pm and 5am on 2 May and again on Tuesday 3 May.
Northbound traffic wishing to exit the M42 on to the M6 to travel south, will be diverted to J9 of the M42. Please note these works are subject to weather conditions.
A fully signed diversion will be in place during these works.
