Parkway utility works; Lane closure planed from 3 April to 19 May is postponed

What we are doing

We need to carry out utility works to strengthen and divert services beneath Parkway before we begin tunnelling later this year.

From March to October, we will carry out works on Parkway, Gloucester Avenue, Albert Street and Delancey Street.

Lane closure on Parkway – 3 April to 19 May – POSTPONED
This works are now postponed. We are reviewing the programme and provide update as soon as further information become available. Please see updated notification below.

We will install monitoring equipment on a section of the Thames Water main beneath Parkway.

• A section of the left northbound lane will be closed between Prince Albert Road and Gloucester Avenue. The left turn from Parkway onto Gloucester Avenue will be maintained.
• There will be periods of increased noise as we excavate the road to access the water main. We will use acoustic blankets to limit the noise. We expect these works will take about 6 weeks.

In June we will return to connect and activate the monitoring equipment. We will close a small section of the northbound lane and footway, for about two weeks.

Overnight lane closure on Parkway – 26 to 27 April 

We will install lining within a section of the sewer beneath Parkway. These works will not be noisy, as we will access the sewer via existing manholes in the road.

• 10 March – survey the sewer – completed
• 26 and 27 April – install the new lining.

Working hours: between 7pm and 7am to reduce the impact on traffic.

The middle northbound lane on Parkway will be closed between Prince Albert Road and Gloucester Avenue. There will be no right turn from Parkway onto Prince Albert Road. Traffic will be diverted via Gloucester Avenue, Regents Park Road and St Marks Square. This traffic management will be removed once overnight works are completed.

Thames Water works on Gloucester Avenue – May 2023
Thames Water will begin works on Gloucester Avenue. These works are expected to take several months. SCS will coordinate with Thames Water to reduce the impact on local traffic in this area.

Utility works on Albert Street – June to September
We will replace a small section of pipework and install monitoring equipment on the Thames Water main at the northern end of Albert Street. We will narrow the lane and suspend parking bays at the northern end of the street for about 10 weeks. We will provide more information about these works closer to the time.

Utility works on Delancey Street and Parkway – July to August
We will begin works to divert a section of the UK Power Networks cable route on Delancey Street and Parkway. We will carry out the works in phases starting on Delancey Street before moving on to Parkway. We will require lane and footway closures and parking bay suspensions. We will also need to close the road at the junction of Delancey Street and Mornington Terrace for about two weeks. We will provide more information about these traffic arrangements and how we will maintain your property access, closer to the time.
