UPDATED Road closure, Whielden Lane, Amersham

What we are doing

UPDATE – 30 May 2025 

These works have now been extended until 8 June.

The remaining works require an additional two phases of road closure:

• Phase 4: One week of single lane closure 12 to 18 May
• Phase 5: Two weeks full closure 19 May to 8 June

We will continue to run a free shuttle bus from Gore Hill to Amersham Hospital and we will reopen the road as soon as we are able to do so.

We apologise for any inconvenience.

PLANNED WORKS

Whielden Lane will be closed to all traffic between the junction with the A404 to the entrance of our Amersham shaft site as we complete drainage works across the highway.

We will undertake drainage realignment works under the road and footpath outside our Amersham vent shaft site. We will be excavating the road and require a full road closure to conduct these works safely.

Pedestrian access will be maintained along Whielden Lane throughout the works.  Access for emergency services will be maintained throughout the closure periods.

These works will require three phases of road closure:

• Phase 1: Three weeks of full closure 24 March to 13 April
• Phase 2: One week of single lane closure 14 to 20 April
• Phase 3: Three weeks of full closure 21 April to 11 May
