What we are doing
We are currently installing sheet piles on site between Granby Terrace bridge and our site office.
We have been using a quiet, non-vibratory rig to push the sheet piles into the ground, but due to difficult ground conditions we haven’t been able to install all of the sheets using this rig. Next month we plan to use a vibratory piling rig to install the remaining sheet piles.
Before we start using this rig, we will carry out a trial to test the vibratory sheet piling method and identify any additional measures we may need to take to reduce the impact of these works.
We will carry out the trial for about four hours on Monday 21 August, you may notice more noise than usual coming from this part of site. We will monitor these works closely to ensure we remain within the noise and vibration limits agreed with the local council.
If we cannot carry out the trial on Monday, we will carry it one of the following days next week.
If the test works, we will use the vibratory rig to install the remaining sheet piles. We expect it will take about three weeks, from the beginning of September, to install the remaining section of sheet piles.
