What we are doing
The new high-speed railway will pass under the A45 Coventry Road as it approaches the new Interchange Station being built in Solihull. This section of the A45 Coventry Road is located near Bickenhill, between Stonebridge roundabout and M42 Junction 6.
As part of ongoing works to construct the A45 Coventry Road overbridge near Bickenhill, we are now progressing with the next phase of activity on the westbound carriageway of the A45 Coventry Road. These works will involve tying in the new drainage system in preparation for future phases of construction.
To enable these works to be carried out safely, we need to close the westbound carriageway on the A45 to implement a temporary contraflow traffic management system. This traffic arrangement is essential to ensure the safety of road users and our workforce, while helping to keep traffic moving and minimise disruption.
Access to businesses will be maintained at all times.
Full weekend closure of A45 Coventry Road westbound carriageway
• From 9pm on Friday 31 October until 6am on Monday 3 November 2025
We have reserved a contingency weekend if we are not able to complete our works during this weekend. The contingency weekend will be 9pm on Friday 5 December until 5am on Monday 8 December 2025.
