What we are doing
Dear Residents
Thames Water’s contractors, Agility Alliance (Murphy Limited) will be carrying out some essential water supply pipe construction work in order to supply a water connection to the new HS2 building, to be built adjacent to the railway lines near to Adelaide Road, Camden NW3.
This will require a section of Adelaide Road to be fully closed from Monday 25 October until Friday 12 November 2021. We apologise to you all for the inconvenience that this will cause.
Adelaide Road will be fully closed between (not including) the turning into Eton Road and No.95/the Medical Centre on the other side of Adelaide Road. Access to Eton Road will remain in place but will be restricted, with right turn into and left turn out of Eton Road only.
A fact sheet is attached on the other side of this letter which provides more details.
No further bus diversions are required as the existing diversions will remain in place. Footpaths will not be affected and access to the Medical Centre will not be affected. Emergency services will be fully aware.
While the road is closed, Thames Water’s contractors McAllister Limited will be carrying out some urgent work on the sewer access and connecting underground gallery in this area, both of which will be decommissioned. This work will be within the fenced off road closure area. The construction team will require two concrete lorries for a maximum of one hour only. Their work will be completed within ten days.
If you have any queries during this road closure period, please telephone Thames Water on 0800 316 9800 at any time and quote the Bulletin Board number 70034409.
Thank you for your understanding while this necessary work is completed.
Project requirement
To provide a water supply for the new HS2 building and to decommission a sewer entry point.
Why is this needed?
HS2 is commissioning a new building adjacent to the railway lines. This building will require a water supply through a new supply pipe that is to be connected to the existing water mains at Adelaide Road, opposite Eton Road.
The sewer entry point at Adelaide Road, adjacent to the turning to the medical centre opposite Eton Road will be decommissioned. The underground gallery connected to this entry point will be blocked up with concrete.
Road closure and traffic management
Adelaide Road will be fully closed from (but not including) No.95 Adelaide Road up to the turning into Eton Road. The road will be closed for a maximum of three weeks from Monday 25 October until Friday 12 November 2021. Work is likely to be completed sooner and the road will be reopened as quickly as possible.
Barriers/Heras fencing will be in place across Adelaide Road for the duration of the road closure.
Access at Adelaide Road and Eton Road
Access at each end of Adelaide Road will be possible, up to the barriers. The road will be fully closed for a section between Eton Road turning (not included) and up to the Medical Centre/No.95 Adelaide Road. Limited access into and out of Eton Road will remain in place. Right turn into, and left turn out of Eton Road will be possible. Access to the Medical Centre will be unaffected. Access to No.95 Adelaide Road will be unaffected.
Footpaths will remain open for use.
Bus diversions
The buses are currently diverted. These works will not affect bus diversions.
Emergency services
Emergency services will be aware of the temporary road closure and will ensure they can access all properties if necessary. Thames Water’s contractors Agility Alliance will be in contact with all emergency services.
