What we are doing
Protection of utility asset works for the Atlas Road Logistics Tunnel
CSJV are continuing to provide protection from expected ground movement to utilities assets during the construction of the Atlas Road Logistics Tunnel (ARLT) which will convey spoil from Victoria Road to the Atlas Road compound. The works will include the installation of replacement water and gas mains. Four-way traffic lights will be situated at the roundabout for the whole duration of the works.
Additional resources have been allocated to the traffic lights to help maintain traffic flow during busier periods. During these works we might use a vacuum excavator, which is a safer and faster way of working within road space that is heavily congested as it sucks up material to expose buried utility services without risk of damaging the cables or pipework below. This is a noisier method, and we erect acoustic barriers around the machine, however a lot of the noise would be sent vertically, when the machine is running which will reduce noise disruption. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this might cause. Utility supplies and other services will not be affected by these works.
