Update: Hampstead Road utility diversion works

What we are doing

Hampstead Road southern section update – 19 February to August 2025

We are continuing our utility works in the southern section of Hampstead Road, near Varndell Street. On 19 February, we will move to the next phase of traffic management, during which Varndell Street will remain closed and we will close the northbound lane on Hampstead Road. We previously informed you that this would be on 17 February.

Mace Dragados JV (MDjv) will continue their utilities works at the junction of Cardington Street until early April. Due to the traffic management on Cardington Street, we will need to close the footpath on Hampstead Road from the current pedestrian crossing point up to Varndell Street until MDjv complete this work. We will install another crossing point at the junction with Varndell Street to maintain access for pedestrians. See footpath diversions and crossing points on the map below. We will maintain two way traffic on Hampstead Road using temporary traffic lights. Vehicle access to Regent’s Park estate will be via Robert Street.

We will continue to monitor the traffic management and reduce impacts where possible. We apologise for any disruption caused.
