What we are doing

Stamford Brook Sewer (SBS) site compound demobilisation

We are continuing our work to divert utilities cables and an existing sewer on Wormwood Scrubs. You can find out more about our works, including our latest works updates here: https://www.hs2.org.uk/in-your-area/local-community-webpages/hs2-in-old-oak-and-north-acton/wormwood-scrubs/

You have previously been notified that we have been diverting an existing sewer on Wormwood Scrubs. This work has now been completed and from the 17 October 2022 we will begin to demobilise the SBS site compound. Please see a map of the location of these works on the page overleaf. The Undertrack Crossing (UTX) compound closest to Old Oak Common Lane will remain in place as we continue to divert utility cables. Temporary wire fencing has been put up to secure the compound until all work is complete. This fencing will then be removed at the final stage. See more detail on page 2.
As well as the SBS compound, the access road leading to Old Oak Common Lane will also be removed. This area (highlighted in yellow on the map overleaf) will be excavated using diggers and will be reinstated with previously excavated material. Once the excavated material has been backfilled, a layer of topsoil will be placed on top. Finally, a grass seed mix, as approved by LBFH’s Parks Management team and reflecting the scrubs’ seedbank, will be sown on the topsoil. This will begin depending on weather conditions. Once this is completed, the area will be cordoned off by rope and posts to protect the new grass seed while it grows.

This work will be taking place within the site boundary during our normal working hours. The welfare facilities will also be removed from this compound.

While the site is being demobilised and the haul road is being reinstated, the hoarding surrounding the compound will be progressively removed. To enable safe removal of the hoarding, wire fencing has been temporarily placed 1.5m around sections of the hoarding, this work will be completed in stages. The wire fencing will then replace the existing green hoarding once it is removed.
The reinstatement is in line with the planning conditions set out by London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. Ecology supervision will be undertaken if identified to be necessary during this work.
We will use best practicable means to minimise any impact on our site neighbours. The works will be carried out between 8am – 6pm Monday to Friday and Saturdays 8am – 1pm if required
