Update on utility works on Cobourg Street

In July 2024, we wrote to you informing you of upcoming coring works at night on Cobourg Street (reference: HS2-MW-MD-Ph1-Eu-St-S3-CR-03-20/06/2024). These works were scheduled to begin on 28 July 2024, but unfortunately needed to be rescheduled. This is due to design approval. The new start date for the nighttime works is Tuesday 27 August 2024 with completion expected October 2024. We need to carry out these works at night (between 10pm and 5am) when train services are suspended and power to the railway is switched off. This is to ensure the safety of our team working close to the live railway. There will be periods when the works will generate noise however sound barriers will be used to minimise noise.

Please note that on completion of these works, at the same location shown in the image below we will undertake cabling works during the day to enable the new Traction -Substation to come into use. Cobourg Street south footpath will remain closed until December 2024, this is to facilitate both works.
