What we are doing
Upcoming works – replacement of site hoardings along Stephenson Street from early-February
Following the completion of works along the site boundary to install the utility connections and site drainage, we are planning to upgrade the site hoardings along Stephenson Street as shown on the map on the following page.
This upgrade is needed due to the current hoarding approaching the end date of its design life and therefore needs to be replaced to ensure it is fit for purpose. These works will take place from mid-February and continue for around three weeks, Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm.
We will need to remove the current hoardings along Stephenson Street and then replace these. Hoarding removal will take approximately one week followed by approximately two weeks of the new installation. We will install noise barriers along the palisade fencing on Stephenson Street during these works to minimise noise disruption to you.
Ongoing utility connections and site drainage works
We wrote to you in late 2021 about works to install utility connections and site drainage next to the Stephenson Street boundary in our Willesden Euroterminal site. Due to the changed working methods and identification of obstructions in the ground, these works will continue until 11 February 2022. These works will continue between 8am to 6pm on Mondays to Fridays and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays if required.
We have been carrying out continued monitoring throughout these works and as a result have changed our working method to ensure that disruption to you is minimised as much as possible.
Vegetation maintenance from 7 February
We will be carrying out vegetation tidying and trimming at our Willesden Euroterminal site from 7 February for approximately three days. During this period, we’ll carry out the following works:
• Trimming the trees overgrown into the site along Stephenson Street – these works will take place from inside our site only. You may notice some noise during these works while chainsaws and handheld equipment are being used to trim the trees.
• Clear all trimming and keep the work area safe and tidy.
The works will take place from 8am to 6pm Mondays to Fridays and 8am to 1pm on Saturday, if needed.
The dates mentioned in this notification may change – we will provide updates at www.HS2.org.uk
What to expect during our works
During the works outlined in this update you may notice one or a few of the following within the site:
• Heavy good vehicles – entering site
• Excavators / excavating activities
• Concreting equipment
• Handheld power tools
Residents may experience some noise and vibration during aspects of the work mentioned in this notification, but please be assured that we will continue to monitor our works. Any vibration experienced by residents is due to proximity with the works and unlikely to structurally affect any properties. If we do trigger any excessive noise and vibration, we will stop those works and carry out an investigation. We will only restart works when it is safe to do so and our working methods have been agreed with Ealing Council. We apologise in advance for any disruption you experience during these works and will continue to carry out the works as quickly and safely as possible.
Loading and excavating materials
Willesden Euroterminal’s receipt and removal of excavated material is ongoing. The team on site have recently replaced the bucket attachment previously used to load the trains on site with a clam shell grab. The benefit of the clam shell attachment is that it is a quieter method and therefore reducing some of the noise created from the previous method being used.
