Update: Pause to works at Adelaide Road site

What we are doing

Works at the Adelaide Road Ventilation Shaft and Headhouse site were brought to a ‘safe stop’ in May 2024, with the expectation that works would not resume until spring 2025.

However, as part of a recent and ongoing review of HS2 construction programme, we do not now expect works to resume in 2025. Our shaft and headhouse site at Adelaide Road will remain in a ‘safe stop’.

What to expect on-site

The hoarding will remain in place, and there will be 24-hour security. Some non-intrusive works, such as monitoring and design will continue. The local community engagement team and the HS2 Helpdesk will still be available to answer your questions.

The office and welfare facilities at the Adelaide Road site will continue to be used by our staff during core working hours to support the Camden Winding Engine Vaults protection works, and utility works in South Hampstead.
