What we are doing
In October 2022 we informed you there will be periods of increased noise as we construct the base for the Euston Cavern headhouse at track-level, next to 1 Park Village East. Please follow this link to the previous notification.
These works were due to begin in late-November, but due to delays will now begin in mid-February.
We will use a high-powered water blaster to expose the top of the piles before installing the concrete base on top (this helps the concrete stick together). The water-blasting can be noisy, but these works will be at track-level within the railway cutting and shielded by an acoustic tent. We will also take frequent breaks throughout the day to reduce the noise impact. We have previously found these measures to significantly reduce the level of noise.
We will construct the base in sections, meaning there will be periods of increased noise from the water blasting followed by quieter periods as we construct the base. We plan to start and finish pouring the concrete for each section within our normal working hours, but sometimes we may need to work as late as 10pm to finish the pour. Concrete will be delivered to our worksite via the lorry lay-by at the northern end of Park Village East.
We will continue to coordinate works onsite to manage the level of noise and reduce impacts where possible.
