What we are doing
We restarted works at the Mandeville Road Ventilation Shaft and Headhouse site on Monday 27 October 2025. This is following a safety stand down across the London tunnels section of the route, due to an incident at our Green Park Way site in September. Our rescheduled works are outlined below.
Working hours: 24 hours a day, Monday to Friday 28 October to 7 November 2025
Below ground works to connect the main shaft to the tunnel
• Wire cutting concrete
• Removing concrete by crane
Working hours: 24 hours a day, Monday to Sunday 7 November to 6 December 2025
Below ground works to connect the main shaft to the tunnel
• Breaking concrete
• Concrete removed via the tunnel
Working hours: 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 1pm Saturday
Extended hours: We may need to work until 6pm on some Saturdays in November
Ongoing until 28November 2025 – Railway embankment works
• Building platform to install steel beams into ground
• Installing five-metre boundary fence
• Preparation works to build retaining wall
Ongoing until 31 December 2025 – Headhouse works
• Ground excavation and breaking concrete
• Installing reinforced steel and sheet piling
Working hours: 6am to 10pm, Monday to Friday – Five days per month in November and December 2025
Concrete pouring for headhouse base slab
• Machinery deliveries from 4am
Pours to start at 6am with varied finishing times no later than 10pm
All dates are subject to change.
HS2 is undergoing a comprehensive reset to ensure it can be built efficiently and for the lowest reasonable cost. This work is being carried out in stages and will be completed in 2026. We will provide you with updates on the reset and what this means for our plans to build the railway in your area.
