Updated: Upgrading utilities – installing temporary cable diversion

What we are doing

As we continue with the works at Old Oak Common Station, we need to renew the old and outdated 132kV UKPN electrical cables behind properties 53 to 135 Wells House Road. These works will require a temporary diversion which we’ll be starting in November. We will then upgrade the power cables to modernise the network ahead of the opening of the station.

As part of the renewal, we need to install ducts through the undertrack tunnel, south of Wells House Road to protect the cables for the diversion. Due to the complex nature and the time it takes to complete this work, we will need to work overnight in November and December. You can read more about this on page 3.

We are working with utility companies to update their cables and pipes which will mean less disruption to residents and businesses in the future.
