Utility surveys in Ampthill Estate – from 20 November to late-December

What we are doing

SCSJV is installing a new UK Power Networks cable route from Lidlington Place to Varndell Street, to replace the current route across the railway and through Ampthill Estate. The current route needs to be removed to make way for the new HS2 railway.

As part of these works, in summer 2024, we will install two new connections from the new cable route on the main road to the substations at the bottom of Gillfoot and Oxenholme. This is to maintain the power supply to the buildings, when the old route through the estate is decommissioned.

Before we can install these connections, we need to survey the cable route between the road and the substations to check the path is clear and confirm the design. These surveys shouldn’t affect your utilities.

Trial pits near Gillfoot and Oxenholme – from 20 November to late-December

Starting 20 November, we will dig five trial pits in Ampthill Estate, three near Gillfoot and two near Oxenholme.

We will dig one trial pit at a time. We expect it will take us about a week to dig, survey and fill in each pit. We will cut and break out any concrete, before using shovels to hand dig the pits. Please note, there may be periods of increased noise as we break out or replace concreted areas.
