What we are doing
We need to protect and divert utility services beneath Parkway junction and in the surrounding area before we begin tunnelling. From February to August, we will carry out utility works on the sewers, water mains and power cables on Parkway, Albert Street and Delancey Street. In autumn 2026, we will return to Parkway to complete protective works to the Cadent Gas main.
We will complete these works in phases in several different locations:
- 16 February to 13 March – Parkway trail holes. Please see update below.
- March to June (TBC) – UKPN cable route on Parkway and Delancey Street
- June to July (TBC) – Water mains works on Albert Street
- July to September (TBC) – Water mains works on Parkway
Update: Utility trial holes (gas main) – 16 February to 13 March
We previously informed you of trial hole surveys on Parkway which started on 16 February. These will help inform the design of the gas mitigation works later this year. We were due to complete these trial holes on 6 March. Due to difficulties locating the gas main, we need to continue working in the middle lane on Parkway until 13 March.
Depending on the outcome of the trial holes, we’ll either need to move to phase 2 of the trial holes, where we’ll close the west side lane on Parkway and the left turn from Parkway into Gloucester Avenue, or, we’ll finish these works and start on the UKPN cable route works on Delancey Street and Parkway.
