What we are doing
Ahead of the start of tunnelling later this year, we plan to complete major utility works on Bridgwater Road and Bridgwater Road Fields, from 15 August 2022 to 2 March 2023. These works are to strengthen and protect utilities from settlement (small movement in the ground caused by constructing the tunnels). The works will involve:
 Installation of sewer lining
 Replacement of a section of water main
 Closure of Bridgwater Road to facilitate the utility works under the bridge
 Vegetation clearance to facilitate access to our work areas.
 Site compound set up and hoarding installation to enclose our works area within Bridgwater Road and playing fields.

Community drop-in event
SCS’s local engagement team are inviting residents and businesses from the New Pond Parade shops to a drop-in event at Ruislip High School, Sidmouth Drive, HA4 0BY. The event will take place on Tuesday 9 August 2022, between 5pm and 7pm. This will be an opportunity for residents and businesses to ask questions about works in the local area.

How these works might affect you
Closure of Bridgwater Road
The sections of the sewer lining and water main replacement on Bridgwater Road are predominately under the railway bridge and across the playing field. Space constraints and location of utilities here means a road closure is necessary to allow the work to be completed safely.

The northern footpath is also to be closed but we propose to leave the southern footpath open. Access on foot to Carmichael Close and adjacent flats will be maintained. There will need to be construction site entrances at the northern and southern ends of the railway bridge.

Other Effects
We will restrict the number of site vehicles accessing the worksite compound on Bridgwater Road Fields via Victoria Road. There are no alternatives to this route.

You may hear additional noise during these works. We will use noise reducing barriers as well as other methods to assist with mitigation.

We would like to apologise for any disruption or inconvenience this may cause. Every effort is being taken to ensure that these works are carried out in the least impactful way. We will ensure that
disruption is kept to a minimum.

Diversion
There will be a diversion route to be used during the road closure. The diversion will be fully signed and managed at both ends of the closed section. The diversion route will be through West End Road south to Station Approach and via Victoria Road.
