What we are doing
What is happening?
As you’re aware, we’re legally required to raise the height of four pylons and a short section of existing overhead line that the new HS2 railway will pass under. This includes two pylons between Handsacre and Hanch, two between Bromley Hayes and Kings Bromley and replacing overhead lines along the route.
What will you notice?
We’ve assessed the most efficient and safe way to carry out protective netting works on scaffolding across the road, and their removal. We aim to reduce the impact on road users and the local community. The arrangements to manage these works are as follows:
• We’ll be managing traffic with ‘Stop/Go’ traffic management boards on Crawley Lane on Wednesday 15 September between 8am and 6pm. They’ll be used where the overhead power line crosses the road; after Crawley Lodge and up to Woodgate Cottage. This is so our contractor, Balfour Beatty, can pull a protective net over the scaffold across the road.
• The same signals will be in place between 8am and 6pm on Monday 25 October while the net is removed.
• Update: We need to close a section of road on Crawley Lane – after Crawley Lodge and up to Woodgate Cottage – for around three to four hours while our contractor, Balfour Beatty, collects scaffolding. We’ll now introduce the closure on or around Wednesday 3 November, not Friday 29 October as originally stated. The road is too narrow for single-lane traffic management measures, which is why we need a full closure.
** Construction dates are subject to change, but the above is programmed to happen. Should there be a shift in dates, we’ll advise accordingly**
