What we are doing
Overnight works at the West Gate gas works
From 24 to 26 June 2024, we will be working overnight to connect the gas supply to the new gas main on West Gate. This is a requirement from Cadent Gas.
Power connection works from 26 June
As part of our works to build the Westgate ventilation shaft, the headhouse and the HS2 tunnels, we need to install a high-voltage (HV) connection to power the construction site.
These works will take place from 26 June to 31 July 2024 and will be split into three phases. You can find more information about each phase and location of the works on the next page. The works will take place from Monday to Saturday, between 8am and 6pm.
There will be an overnight shift on Sunday 30 June 2024 between 7pm and 5am to allow works next to the train tracks.
Other works at Westgate Vent Shaft site
From June to July 2024, we will be erecting the steelwork for the Headhouse. You may see a crane on site. From June 2024 to April 2025, we will be replacing the temporary hoarding fence with the retaining wall and permanent security fence. We will use excavators and diggers.
From 24 October 2024 we plan to install monitoring equipment on two retaining walls at SELCO and Manhattan Business Park. The equipment is designed to detect any movement which may occur during construction works in local area. The monitoring equipment is installed as a precaution and will be removed once works are completed.
