HS2 Phase One information papers: route development (series A)

The consideration of alternative routes between London and West Midlands and how the most promising ones were evaluated on:

• journey time
• engineering feasibility
• likely environmental effects
• cost

Rail service patterns won’t be directly affected by the bill. However, HS2 provides the opportunity to improve the use and capacity of the West Coast Main Line. The potential for future developments and timetables are considered.
