A scheme available to owner-occupiers who can show that they have a ‘compelling reason’ to sell their property, but have been unable to do so (other than at a greatly reduced price) as a direct result of the announcement of the route of HS2.

Need to Sell scheme (NTS) pre-application service

If you are considering making an application to the Need to Sell (NTS) scheme and have read the guidance and application form, but still have further questions, we now offer an NTS pre-application service where you can talk with a member of the NTS team on the phone for up to 30 minutes.

They can discuss the requirements of the NTS scheme and the types of evidence you might need to provide to support your application.

The team can only give advice in the context of the examples referenced in the NTS guidance. They cannot talk about your personal situation or tell you what evidence will result in a successful application, as each case depends on individual circumstances. Once your application is fully complete and submitted, an independent panel will give a recommendation and a senior civil servant will review this and make a final decision.
