Overview:

In this activity pupils choose from a selection of envelopes, which each contain a mystery activity. These short activities are designed to help students to develop their Essential Skills and include:

  • Secret design
  • Build the tower
  • Run the rails
  • Think outside the square
  • Stick together
  • Drop the marble

Learning objectives:

Students will learn to:

  • Apply their Essential Skills of speaking, listening, teamwork, creativity and problem solving to complete a challenge.
  • Evaluate which skills were most important in each challenge.

Students will use the Essential Skills of speaking, listening, creativity, problem solving and teamwork.

Delivery notes:

  • This activity could take from 10 to 60 minutes, depending on how many challenges pupils are asked to complete.
  • Some challenges need minimal equipment, for example a piece of paper. Other challenges need everyday materials such as paper cups, cardboard tubes and egg boxes.
