What we are doing
Mechanical, electrical and plumbing installation works including the installation of: ventilation and smoke extraction systems, firefighting water services, environmental control, and associated mechanical equipment required to support safe tunnel operation and emergency response for the future railway; Foul and surface water drainage systems, tunnel water management, and fire main installations supporting operational and emergency requirements.
Noise and visual impacts of these works are expected to be minimal as the majority of the works will be carried out by small specialist teams within the confines of the compound buildings and the ventilation shaft and tunnel.
Teams will be working on site on Mondays to Saturdays within the compound and buildings. Occasional deliveries using Heavy Goods Vehicles or small vans.
HS2 is undergoing a comprehensive reset to ensure it can be built efficiently and for the lowest reasonable cost. This work is being carried out in stages and will be completed in 2026. We will provide you with updates on the reset and what this means for our plans to build the railway in your area.
