What we are doing
We will work alongside the highway to remove existing site hoarding and to install a new Vehicle Restraint System (VRS) around the Amersham Vent Shaft site on Whielden Lane and the A404, Amersham.
These safety barriers are designed to protect road users and the shaft site in the event of accidental collision.

Duration
Works will take place over 3 weeks from Monday 17 August to Sunday 6 September 2026.
What to expect
There will be lane narrowing along the carriageway to create a safe working zone for operatives, particularly during busier periods.
We will make every effort to keep disruption to a minimum during this period.
HS2 is undergoing a comprehensive reset to ensure it can be built efficiently and for the lowest reasonable cost. This work is being carried out in stages and will be completed in 2026. We will provide you with updates on the reset and what this means for our plans to build the railway in your area.
