Update on 24/7 working for demobilisation and tunnel connection works at West Ruislip Portal site

What we are doing
We wrote to you in February to inform you about works at our site at West Ruislip Portal. We would like to update you on the works programme as the demobilisation progresses throughout the next few months until 30 November 2026.
The next phase of the demobilisation and removal works will be carried out for the following :
- 24/7 removal of tunnelling services works inside the tunnel ongoing until 30 September
- 24/7 water treatment plant removal ongoing until 31 August
- 24/7 steel fixing, shutter striking and formwork within and outside the tunnel ongoing until 30 November
- Concrete pouring and pumping (extended core hours) ongoing to 30 November
- Workshop and storage facilities demobilisation (extended core hours) ongoing
- Conveyor foundation removal works (core hours) ongoing until 30 November
Works carried out during core hours will be Mondays to Fridays 8am to 6pm, Saturdays 8am to 1pm. Extended core hours will be Mondays to Fridays 8am to 10pm, Saturdays 8am to 6pm.
You may notice crane movements for the tunnel connections works to install formwork near the tunnel entrance. We will use excavators to break out concrete and noise barriers will be in place at the western site. There will be dumper trucks transporting materials and concrete.
HS2 is undergoing a comprehensive reset to ensure it can be built efficiently and for the lowest reasonable cost. This work is being carried out in stages and will be completed in 2026. We will provide you with updates on the reset and what this means for our plans to build the railway in your area.
