What we are doing
Location
M42 southbound carriageway from junctions 9 to 7a, and the M6 Toll Road southbound from junction T2 to M42.

Duration
The southbound carriageway will be closed overnight from 21:00pm to 06:00am each night on the following dates:
• Wednesday 20 May 2026
• Thursday 21 May 2026
What we are doing
We are finalising the traffic layout switch and completing carriageway markings to ensure the safety of the road users.
What to expect
Low level of noise from our machinery and a clearly signed diversion route.
HS2 is undergoing a comprehensive reset to ensure it can be built efficiently and for the lowest reasonable cost. This work is being carried out in stages and will be completed in 2026. We will provide you with updates on the reset and what this means for our plans to build the railway in your area.
