What we are doing

Partial footpath closure on Hampstead Road bridge – 19 September to 27 September

We need to carry out trial hole works on the existing gas main on Hampstead Road bridge, which will be removed at a later date as part of the Hampstead Road bridge construction works. To carry out these works safely, there will be partial footpath closures on Hampstead Road bridge. From 7pm on the 19 September to 5am 20 September, we will excavate trial holes to expose the existing gas main.

Between 21 and 23 September, we will carry out installing safety equipment within the trial holes to allow any remaining gas within the main to be removed safely, this will take place from 8am to 6pm. We will then return to reinstate the trial holes and road surface from 7pm on the 26 September to 5am 27 September.

HS2 is undergoing a comprehensive reset to ensure it can be built efficiently and for the lowest reasonable cost. This work is being carried out in stages and will be completed in 2026. We will provide you with updates on the reset and what this means for our plans to build the railway in your area.
