Update on works at the Green Park Way Ventilation Shaft and Headhouse site, Greenford

What we are doing

We are continuing to build the headhouse, ventilation shaft and underground structures at the Green Park Way Ventilation Shaft site.

From 16 March to 31 May 2026 we will carry out the following works:

Works in the tunnels will include:

• Removing temporary concrete structures and equipment used during the tunnel drive.
• Completing works within the cross passage that connects the tunnels.

In the shafts and headhouse area, we will:

• Safely decommission ground water wells. Install waterproofing to the tunnel entrances and add the second concrete lining to both shafts.
• Install the base slab and invert concrete pours. Headhouse ground floor slab consisting of 5 pours including ventilation basement top slab and satellite shaft roof slab. Carry out drainage and maintenance activities.

At ground level, work will include:

• Building the foundations for the transformer station, which will involve some concrete breaking and use of a concrete pump.

You may notice some construction noise. We will use mitigation measures to reduce impacts where possible, such as:

• Noise and vibration monitoring
• Dust suppression when required
• Noise barriers, where possible
• Lighting pointing away from residential and commercial properties
