What we are doing
Ground anchor testing from 1 to 15 November 2021
From 1 to 15 November, we will be carrying out a ground anchor test in the Adelaide Road site. T
he test will involve the following steps:
Step one – plant and construction machinery will arrive on site from 1 November. It will be set up ready to carry out the test.
Step two – we will install one test anchor vertically, straight into the ground at the western end of the site. This will involve drilling a hole into the ground using a pre-auger drill and a 25-tonne crane to lift the machinery into place. This will take up to three days to
install
Step three – after the anchor is in installed, we will allow seven days for the concrete to set
Step four – once the concrete is set, we will carry out testing on the ground anchor. This will allow our design team to understand the ground conditions before we carry out our main ground anchors works.
These works will be carried out during our core working hours from 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays.
What are ground anchors?
Ground anchors are lightweight, corrosive resistant rods or cables installed into the ground to hold, restrain and support building, civil engineering works and other structures, either permanently or temporarily.
We plan to carry out the main ground anchors works from 2022. This date remains subject to change; we will provide more information to local residents.
