What we are doing
From 14 September we’ll close Mornington Street bridge to vehicles. We’ll install new kerbs and road markings to manage the 3-tonne weight limit in place on the bridge. The new kerbs will replace the temporary width restriction barriers we currently have in place. We’ll work Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm. We expect to complete these works by 18 September. Please note the bridge will remain closed for the duration of these works. The bridge will remain open to pedestrians and cyclists.
During the closure of the bridge, we’ll divert vehicles via Mornington Street, Albert Street, Delancey Street, Parkway, Park Village East, Stanhope Street, Robert Street, Hampstead Road, Mornington Crescent, Clarkson Row and back onto Mornington Terrace.
HS2 is undergoing a comprehensive reset to ensure it can be built efficiently and for the lowest reasonable cost. This work is being carried out in stages and will be completed in 2026. We will provide you with updates on the reset and what this means for our plans to build the railway in your area.
