What we are doing
Location
Curzon Approach
Duration
On Friday 29 May 2026 until Monday 1 June 2026 Network Rail will close the Birmingham to Derby railway line enabling our teams to work over the line. The team will make best use of this time by working all day and all night. There will be a requirement for preliminary and completion work before and after this timeframe.
What we are doing
The Curzon 2 bridge (sometimes referred to in the media as the Bellingham bridge), a key part of the route that will carry High
Speed trains into the centre of Birmingham is now complete. We will now launch this bridge into its permanent position over the
railway line.
What to expect
This work will have no highway impacts as it is over the existing Network Rail lines. It will require a 24-hour working pattern so
there will be some low-level construction noise and lighting overnight. Noise levels will be monitored throughout.
HS2 is undergoing a comprehensive reset to ensure it can be built efficiently and for the lowest reasonable cost. This work is being carried out in stages and will be completed in 2026. We will provide you with updates on the reset and what this means for our plans to build the railway in your area.
