What we are doing
We wrote to you in January 2026 about our works from 9 February to 16 October 2026 to build reinforced concrete walls at the base of the main shaft. The end date for these works has been extended until 31 October 2026 as we need to do some additional work. You may notice staff on site overnight and light from works within the shaft.
Monday to Friday, 24 hours a day
We are very sorry for any inconvenience extending these works might cause.
Separately, the crane on site will not be in use overnight, and the work will take place underground.
HS2 is undergoing a comprehensive reset to ensure it can be built efficiently and for the lowest reasonable cost. This work is being carried out in stages and will be completed in 2026. We will provide you with updates on the reset and what this means for our plans to build the railway in your area.
