What we are doing
We’ll install ground monitoring equipment in your area in advance of future tunnelling.
Monitoring will be ongoing during tunnelling works. Up to two operatives will install 35mm ground monitoring studs about five to ten metres apart. It will take a few minutes to install each stud. You may have seen similar studs on footpaths in your local area. We’ll then visit regularly in 2026 and 2027 to take readings.
We’ll let you know if these dates change.
HS2 is undergoing a comprehensive reset to ensure it can be built efficiently and for the lowest reasonable cost. This work is being carried out in stages and will be completed in 2026. We will provide you with updates on the reset and what this means for our plans to build the railway in your area.
