What we are doing
We are preparing for the next phase of our works to divert the gas main in South Hampstead in advance of HS2 tunnelling in the area. We are marking the road with temporary spray paint, to provide a visual indication of where the gas main runs. These markings will help us to finalise our plans for the next phase of work.
We will send out more information before the next phase starts. We will also carry out a lighting survey, to ensure that lighting levels in the area are adequate.
We are working on Finchley Road between the junction with College Crescent and the Gym Group.
These works will take place Overnight, from 10pm to 3am on Tuesday 3 November 2026.
HS2 is undergoing a comprehensive reset to ensure it can be built efficiently and for the lowest reasonable cost. This work is being carried out in stages and will be completed in 2026. We will provide you with updates on the reset and what this means for our plans to build the railway in your area.
