What we are doing
Construction activities to join the new road bridge over the HS2 railway line into the existing road.
Location
A423, Banbury Road, near Southam.
Duration
Lane closures with traffic lights: Monday 10 August to Friday 21 August, 7pm to 7am.
Full road closure: Friday 21 August to Wednesday 2 September 2026, 24 hours a day.
Lane closure with traffic lights: Wednesday 2 September to Wednesday 30 September, 24 hours a day.
What to expect
- Before and after the road closure, traffic lights will be in place to complete works at the roadside under a lane closure.
- The road closure commencing on Friday 21 August will be continuous, with no access for all road users.
- Access will be maintained for properties within the closure area and for staff to access the EKFB compound only.
- Some 24-hour working and weekend working will be required.
- Following the closure, the existing traffic light controlled access to the EKFB compound will remain in place.
HS2 is undergoing a comprehensive reset to ensure it can be built efficiently and for the lowest reasonable cost. This work is being carried out in stages and will be completed in 2026. We will provide you with updates on the reset and what this means for our plans to build the railway in your area
