Contingency overnight closures Up to three contingency overnight closures, from 8pm to 6am on either Monday 14, Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 September 2026, may be required.
These contingency dates will only be required due to unavoidable delays to our works, such as to adverse weather conditions.
What we are doing
Installing pre-casted concrete parapets via crane along the sides of Water Orton Viaducts 1 and 2, specifically over the carriageway and footway of the A446 Lichfield Road.
What to expect
• Full road closure of the A446 Lichfield Road.
• The work will be carried out in continuous day and night shifts, operating 24/7 during the closure period, to ensure completion in the shortest possible time.
• Three subsequent overnight closures, as detailed above.
• Access for pedestrians and cyclists will remain in place throughout the road closure.
• Access to businesses and residents will also remain throughout the road closure.
• Bus routes will be diverted accordingly; check bus company websites for more information (Link provided on Page 3).
• Updates on any changes will be communicated in advance.
