What we are doing
We will be carrying out ground penetrating surveys to help us identify the location of buried utility services, such as gas, electric or water. These surveys are non-intrusive, we will use a machine that transmits an electromagnetic pulse into the ground. These pulses reflect off features in the ground, allowing us to collect data and to understand the depth of the buried utility services.
Along with ground penetrating surveys, we will carry out several other surveys. For the safety of both our workforce and motorists, we need to close Yarnfield Lane overnight from Moss Lane to the A34 junction. We will also need to close lane one of the carriageways on the A34 northbound between Walton roundabout and the Fillybrooks roundabout.
When the work will take place
Earlier this year, we partially completed ground penetrating surveys at this location using temporary traffic lights. However, to complete these surveys between Moss Lane and Yarnfield Lane/A34 junction safely, we need to close the road. To minimise disruption to the community, we will close the road overnight from Monday 6 June to Friday 17 June 2022.
