What we are doing
Location
At multiple locations in the area highlighted on the map below around the M42, A45 and Birmingham Airport and NEC area.
Duration
From Monday 10 August for around 17 weeks (subject to weather, access and site conditions). Working hours will typically be Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm. To reduce disruption, there will be some night works around airport access roads and car parks.
What we are doing
To continue preparation for the procurement, design and construction of the HS2 Automated People Mover (APM), we will be undertaking topographical, lake and utility surveys along the line of the new APM route.
What to expect
Small teams will use hand and vehicle mounted survey and scanning equipment to gather survey data. The lake surveys will be
completed from a boat. Where access to third-party land is required, specific and separate stakeholder engagement will be undertaken.
HS2 is undergoing a comprehensive reset to ensure it can be built efficiently and for the lowest reasonable cost. This work is being carried out in stages and will be completed in 2026. We will provide you with updates on the reset and what this means for our plans to build the railway in your area.
