What we are doing
Narrowing works to the eastern section of the old road to make it suitable for its intended future use. The A41 was realigned in 2024.

Aylesbury Road (formerly the A41)
Duration
16 weeks total:
- Monday 12 October to Friday 18 December 2026 (10 weeks) and
- Monday 4 January to Friday 12 February 2027 (6 weeks)
What to expect
- Alternating lane closures on either carriageway while the other is narrowed for the duration of the works and a short full closure of the road to enable drainage gully installation across both carriageways.
- Overnight working for certain tasks.
- Residents’ access will be maintained throughout the works.
HS2 is undergoing a comprehensive reset to ensure it can be built efficiently and for the lowest reasonable cost. This work is being carried out in stages and will be completed in 2026. We will provide you with updates on the reset and what this means for our plans to build the railway in your area.
