What we are doing

Central Line bridge works – working three or four-night shifts from Tuesday 7 April – Thursday 9 April

We are continuing with our work to support the construction of railway bridges on land near the Central Line (around 90 metres south from the rear of properties on Wells House Road). We are working on a sensitive area around an existing wall on the west side of the Central Line bridge. Excavations here require a vacuum excavator, which produces a more continuous noise than a regular excavator and lower vibration. This will be used over a one-metre strip alongside wider excavations in the area. The vacuum excavation method is less likely to cause damage to the wall. We will work in night shifts while the Central Line is closed, in case of debris falling on the tracks.

HS2 is undergoing a comprehensive reset to ensure it can be built efficiently and for the lowest reasonable cost. This work is being carried out in stages and will be completed in 2026. We will provide you with updates on the reset and what this means for our plans to build the railway in your area.
