Location
Lawley Middleway (A4540) between Garison Circus and Curzon Circus
Duration
A northbound only closure from 10pm until 6am each night from Saturday 21 November until Tuesday 24 November, a full closure in both directions from 10pm until 6am each night from Wednesday 25 November until Wednesday 2 December and a southbound only closure from 10pm until 6am each night from Thursday 3 December until Sunday 6 December.
What we are doing
In 2025, we successfully launched the Lawley Middleway Bridge, a key element of the new railway that will carry high-speed trains over Lawley Middleway and directly into the centre of Birmingham. We now need to lay the concrete slabs and permanent formwork across the structure. This work will include the use of a large gantry crane. We have carefully planned this work to take place overnight, when traffic levels are generally much quieter.
What to expect
A fully signed diversion route will be in place
HS2 is undergoing a comprehensive reset to ensure it can be built efficiently and for the lowest reasonable cost. This work is being carried out in stages and will be completed in 2026. We will provide you with updates on the reset and what this means for our plans to build the railway in your area.
