What we are doing

Further drainage surveys July 2021

We have previously carried out drainage surveys on Adelaide Road and Eton Road. We will be carrying out further drainage surveys in July to investigate the condition of the drainage in your local area.

The surveys are planned to take place overnight on the following dates:  Friday 16 July, Monday 19 July, Tuesday 20 July.

The surveys are planned to take place from 9pm to 6am. We will use a camera to investigate the condition of the drainage system and may need to flush the system using a high-pressure water jet. Temporary traffic management will be in place overnight on Adelaide Road and Eton Road provide a safe working area for the team carrying out the surveys. You will still be able to travel through the area.

A signed diversion route will be in place during the overnight surveys on Eton Road. Bus Stop CB (Chalk Farm) will be suspended overnight on the above dates. Maps showing the survey locations are included on pages 2 and 3.

Road closure on Adelaide Road – 17 and 31 July

We wrote to you in mid-May advising that we would be installing a temporary site office and welfare units at the eastern end of the Adelaide Road site on Saturday 29 May and Saturday 12 June. These works have now been rescheduled and will now take place on Saturday 17 July and Saturday 31 July.

On Saturday 17 July and Saturday 31 July 2021 between 7am and 7pm, a temporary road closure will be in place on Adelaide Road. The temporary road closure is needed to lift the site office and welfare units into place at the eastern end of the Adelaide Road site and remove the current welfare facilities at the western end of the site.

You can find more information and maps showing the location of these works on the following pages. What you will see There will be construction vehicles on Adelaide Road during these works, including a 45-tonne crane to move the site office and welfare units. On 17 July, the crane will be installed in the road closure to lift the units into place at the eastern end of the site. The units will be two storeys high with a staircase on the side for access onto the first floor. On 31 July, the crane will be installed in the road closure to remove the current welfare units at the western end of the site.

Temporary changes to travel

The following temporary changes will be in place during the temporary road closure. Travelling by foot or bicycle The footpath between the junction of Eton Road on Adelaide Road and Beaumont Walk will be closed for the duration of the works.

We will provide a safe and clearly signed diversion route for cyclist and pedestrians via Eton Road, Provost Road and Eton College Road. For your safety, please use the signed cycle and walking route. Access to your property will be maintained at all times.

Travelling by bus Eton Road (Stop R), Chalk Farm (Stop CB) and Chalk Farm (Stop CA) will be closed for the duration of our works. The nearest bus stops for bus routes 31, N28 and N31 are Finchley Road South Hampstead (Stop K) and The Roundhouse (Stop CF). Travelling by car To help us maintain traffic flow on the road network, we have agreed a diversion route with Camden Council and Transport for London. Vehicles travelling towards Adelaide Road from Swiss Cottage will be diverted north on Fitzjohn’s Avenue and Heath Street (B511) and then south on Haverstock Hill (A502) towards Chalk Farm.
