Removal of Track Matting

From 6 September 2021, we will begin to remove the track matting from Wormwood Scrubs. The matting was in place to protect the ground along our temporary access route from Braybrook Street while we constructed the new access routes off Old Oak Common Lane. The matting will be lifted under the supervision of an Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) to ensure any wildlife located under the matting is not harmed. Following the removal of the matting, we will stop using the temporary access route from Braybrook Street, and all vehicles will access the site areas via Old Oak Common Lane.

Vegetation Clearance for Access to Telecommunications Manhole

During the week commencing 10 September 2021 we will be undertaking some minor vegetation clearance works in the north-west corner of Wormwood Scrubs, to help us locate and access a telecommunications manhole. All vegetation clearance will be completed under supervision of an Ecologic Clerk of Works (ECoW), who will carry out nesting bird and reptile checks prior to the clearance. The initial vegetation clearance will involve strimming an area of grass and shrubs to a low level in order to create a small walkway to locate the manhole. Once the manhole is located, an area approximately 2 metres squared will be cleared in phases to ground level in order to access the manhole. No trees will be removed as part of this work.
