What we are doing

We are building the boundary walls and carrying out drainage works at the South Ruislip Vent Shaft site.

Boundary wall construction update

We wrote to you in June 2026 to let you know about boundary wall and drainage works at the South Ruislip Vent Shaft. We told you that work on the southern boundary wall would restart on 20 July 2026. This date has changed, to allow for further design work, and work will now restart on 17 August until 27 November 2026.

For safety reasons, we need to complete some of the work overnight when trains are not running. We will work every night except Thursdays from 17 August to 4 September 2026. We will remove fencing and temporary foundations and then install pre-cast walls using an excavator and handheld tools.

Due to a delay in delivery of materials, work on the western boundary wall will not be completed until September 2026. We will then work on the eastern and northern boundary walls until June 2027.

Drainage works on site are ongoing until July 2027
These works include ground excavation and installation of pipes and manholes. Priority has been given to other works on site, and the drainage works will be scheduled to align with and accommodate these works.

HS2 is undergoing a comprehensive reset to ensure it can be built efficiently and for the lowest reasonable cost. This work is being carried out in stages and will be completed in 2026. We will provide you with updates on the reset and what this means for our plans to build the railway in your area.
