What we are doing

We are carrying out utility diversions on local highways and continuing with site preparation behind our hoardings.

Maria Fidelis Old School and Gas Connection – Starcross Street

Landscaping at the Maria Fidelis Old School is continuing and will be completed by the end of this year. The building itself has been refurbished and is now occupied by project staff.  From late September we began connecting the new gas main installed last year. The works would be in place for up to four weeks. Two parking bays will be suspended for the duration of the works.

Utility Diversions – Euston Street and North Gower Street

Since May 2026 we have been carrying out utility diversions on Euston Street and North Gower Street. Works are progressing well and at the end of September we will begin the planned sewer diversion. These works will continue until late Spring 2027 and throughout the duration of the works, there will be no vehicle access to Euston Street. Pedestrian access to properties and Euston Station will be maintained throughout.

Hampstead Road – Trial Holes

To support upcoming junction works for the new haul road, we need to carry out two trial holes on Hampstead Road. These works will help us confirm the best locations for new lighting columns. The works will start from Mid-October 2026 and are expected to take around two weeks to complete. While the trial holes are being carried out, the cycle lane on Hampstead Road will be temporarily closed and diverted for use by pedestrians.

Drummond Street – UKPN works

UKPN have further cable connection works to take place on Drummond Street and North Gower Street in late October. These works will take three weeks to complete and will require a closure of Drummond Street for up to five days. UKPN will send further information prior to the works taking place.

Behind Our Hoardings

Logistics works are continuing, and we have begun transporting materials by rail. Since August 2026, we have removed 17,284.88 tonnes of material by rail, taking the equivalent of 1,090 lorry journeys off local roads. Other works behind our hoardings include ongoing utility diversions and construction of the on-site vehicle route, which is due to be completed in early 2027. Our piling programme will resume in November 2026.

Overnight delivery of materials

To facilitate the delivery of materials, we will be conducting intermittent overnight deliveries between 7pm and 7am. This is necessary to accommodate vehicles that are restricted from operating on London roads during daytime hours.

Our commitment to minimising our impact We understand that construction can disrupt people living and working nearby. Some periods of increased noise may be unavoidable, particularly during excavation and concrete works, but we will take all reasonable steps to minimise disturbance. To reduce impacts on local communities, businesses and commuters, we will use noise blankets where appropriate, control dust, monitor noise and air quality, and regularly review traffic management arrangements. We will also provide regular works updates, engage with stakeholders and maintain an on-site Customer Experience Team to support the public and respond to enquiries. Please note that changes to the programme may occur. If there are significant changes, we will write to you again.

HS2 is undergoing a comprehensive reset to ensure it can be built efficiently and for the lowest reasonable cost. This work is being carried out in stages and will be completed in 2026. We will provide you with updates on the reset and what this means for our plans to build the railway in your area.
