What we are doing

Weekend working in Camden Cutting north

We previously informed you that we need to complete protective works to Network Rail tracks ahead of the tunnel boring machine arriving in Euston. The works will now finish on Sunday 2 August. This will involve excavation and steel cutting at track-level in several areas within the Camden Cutting. Due to the location of these works, we can only carry this out when the rail tracks below are not in use. We expect there to be some noise during these works. We’ll aim to complete all noisy activities during the day, however, we may need to continue these works overnight. We’ll work on the following dates;

  • 8am on Saturday 25 July to 5am on Monday 27 July
  • 10pm on Saturday 1 August to 8am on Sunday 2 August

We apologise for any disruption these works might cause.

Weekend working on Granby Terrace Bridge

We need to complete some enabling works to facilitate the build of our haul road across Granby Terrace bridge. This will involve using a crane to lift concrete blocks onto the newly constructed bridge. We’ll need to work overnight from 9pm on Saturday 29 August to 9am on Sunday 30 August. Due to the location of these works, we can only carry this out when the rail tracks below are not in use. We do not expect these works to be noisy.

Reinstatement of white lining at the Vehicle Holding Area

We need to reinstate the white lining at the entrance to our Vehicle Holding Area (VHA) to ensure safety for our vehicle movements when entering and leaving site. We’ll need to remove the old lining by using a high-powered water blaster before applying the new lining. We’ll need to temporarily close the pedestrian crossing and redivert pedestrians around the closure. We’ll work on Saturday 15 August, from 8am to 5pm to complete this work. If we cannot complete this work on 15 August, we may need to work the following Saturday as contingency.
Overnight vegetation clearance along the Park Village East wall
On Saturday 25 July from 9pm until 9am on Sunday 26 July, we’ll work track side along the Park Village East wall to trim back some of the vegetation overhanging the railway to prevent branches falling into our worksite or the railway line. For safety, we need to complete these works when the tracks are not in use. We’ll start by trimming the larger areas using a chainsaw intermittently. You may notice periods of noise while we carry out this work. We will use hand tools where possible to reduce the noise impact.

Ongoing surveys and monitoring at track-level within the Euston Approaches
We carry out regular surveys and monitoring of the bridges and structures within the railway cutting, to inform and assess the impact of our works.  For safety, due to the location of these structures beside, above and below the railway tracks, we can only carry out these surveys when the tracks are not in use. This means we frequently carry out surveys during weekends and overnight shifts.

Large load movements

To help with our deliveries and collections, we regularly have large loads delivered to or collected from our worksite via Hampstead Road gate and the Vehicle Holding Area. For safety reasons, these loads need to be moved at night or early morning to avoid peak traffic hours. Due to the size and weight of these loads there may be occasions where our approved lorry routes are not suitable, and the haulier may need to use alternative roads. Our traffic management team will be present to assist the haulier in safely navigating the route and traffic marshals will be on site to guide lorries in and out of our worksites.

These movements will continue on various dates throughout the duration of the project.

HS2 is undergoing a comprehensive reset to ensure it can be built efficiently and for the lowest reasonable cost. This work is being carried out in stages and will be completed in 2026. We will provide you with updates on the reset and what this means for our plans to build the railway in your area.
