What we are doing

We plan our construction activities to avoid working over the weekend wherever possible, but for safety reasons we can only carry out certain works next to the railway when the tracks are not in use.

Below is an overview of works planned over weekends in May and early June;

Weekend working in Camden Cutting north

We need to complete some excavation and removal of concrete at track-level in several areas within the Cavern. Due to the location of these works, we can only carry this out when the rail tracks below are not in use. We expect there to be some noise during these works, however we’ll aim to complete all noisy activities during the day. We’ll work during the day and overnight from 8am on Saturday 30 May until Monday 1 June until 6am. We apologise for any disruption these works might cause.

We also need to remove some scaffolding in this area which we’ll complete on Saturday 30 May from 8am to 5pm. We do not expect these works to be noisy.

Weekend working in Euston Throat

We are continuing our works to remove the Network Rail wall in the Euston Throat area. We’ll remove the scaffold and make amendments to the hoarding. We can only carry out these works when the rail tracks below are not in use. We do not expect these works to be noisy. We’ll work from 9am on Saturday 30 May to 9pm Sunday 31 May.

We’ll also be reinforcing some containment units on Granby Terrace bridge overnight from 9pm on Saturday 6 June until 6am on Sunday 7 June. We can only carry out reinforcement works when the rail tracks below are not in use. We expect there to be some noise during these works, however we’ll continually monitor noise levels to ensure we are working within the approved limits. We apologise for any disruption these works might cause.

Weekend working near Granby Terrace Bridge

We need to complete some enabling works to facilitate the build of our haul road across Granby Terrace bridge. This will involve lifting concrete blocks onto the newly constructed bridge. We’ll work consecutive weekends overnight from 9pm on Saturday 6 June until 9am on Sunday 28 June. These works need to be completed at the weekend when our site haul route is not in use. We do not expect these works to be noisy.

Ongoing surveys and monitoring at track-level within the Euston Approaches

We carry out regular surveys and monitoring of the bridges and structures within the railway cutting, to inform and assess the impact of our works. For safety, due to the location of these structures beside, above and below the railway tracks, we can only carry out these surveys when the tracks are not in use. This means we frequently carry out surveys during weekends and overnight shifts.

Large load movements

To help with our deliveries and collections, we regularly have large loads delivered to or collected from our worksite via Hampstead Road gate and the Vehicle Holding Area. For safety reasons, these loads need to be moved at night or early morning to avoid peak traffic hours. Due to the size and weight of these loads there may be occasions where our approved lorry routes are not suitable, and the haulier may need to use alternative roads. Our traffic management team will be present to assist the haulier in safely navigating the route and traffic marshals will be on site to guide lorries in and out of our worksites.

These movements will continue on various dates throughout the duration of the project.

Hoarding Maintenance on Hampstead Road

We carry out regular maintenance to our site hoarding on Hampstead Road once a month on a Saturday night. We plan to carry out this work overnight on Saturday 30 May.

HS2 is undergoing a comprehensive reset to ensure it can be built efficiently and for the lowest reasonable cost. This work is being carried out in stages and will be completed in 2026. We will provide you with updates on the reset and what this means for our plans to build the railway in your area.
